Curtis "Jerry" Roberson, 86, of Porterville, CA passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his home. Jerry was born to Curtis & Helen Roberson on September 16, 1935 in Atoka, OK. Jerry married Georgia (Holley) Roberson on February 14, 1959. She passed away on her 68th birthday, January 20, 2006.\n\nAt 21 years old, Jerry was drafted and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany for a part of that time. After the U.S. Army, he enrolled in the Exeter Police Reserve.\n\nJerry then became a 6th grade teacher at Strathmore Union Elementary School and taught for 35 years. Jerry also enjoyed small time farming. He had cows, chickens, Shetland ponies & geese. He also had an array of fruit & nut trees that he cared for and enjoyed sharing with his family.\n\nHe loved animals, especially dogs and always had several running around his home and property. He enjoyed working outside, from taking care of the animals, to flood irrigating the lawns and harvesting the fruit and nut trees. Jerry also enjoyed strategy games like Chess, Stratego, Dominos & Risk; and if you ever beat him at one of those games, you knew you won fair and square.\n\nJerry is survived by his siblings, Betty, Nancy, Patsy, Dan, Jim, & Terry; daughter, Angelia Roberson; son, Robert Roberson and his wife, Kristine; son, John Roberson; grandkids, Benjamin, Brittany & Matthew; and numerous nieces & nephews.\n\nThere will be a viewing time from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27 at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center, 765 W Henderson Ave.; funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Graveside will follow at Porterville Cemetery.\n\nIf desired, friends & family may make contributions to Parkinson's Foundation California at https://www.parkinson.org/california.
