Dominic "Nick" Basilio Garfield age 37 and a member of the Tule River Indian Reservation passed away July 17, 2014 in Porterville. Nick was born March 25, 1977 at the Oakland Naval Regional Hospital in Oakland, CA to Pam Paiste and Clayton Garfield. He received all his education in Porterville and worked as a Firefighter for both the California Conservation Corps and the Tule River Forestry Service. Nick had a very generous spirit and did a lot of work for the Tule River Indian Community. He was one of seven remaining Traditional Bear Dancers and because of his participation at countless Pow Wow's and his outgoing nature had many friends wherever he went. He enjoyed hanging with friends and going to parties and most of all loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. His surviving family includes his parents, Pam Paiste of Porterville and Clayton Garfield of Tule River Reservation. 2 daughters: Makayla Garfield and fiancAC. Carlos Lopez of Porterville and Echo Garfield of Tule River Reservation. 2 brothers: Justin M. Garfield and spouse Veronica of Porterville and Andrew C. Garfield and spouse Antoinette of Tule River Reservation. His sister Sheila Garfield of Tule River Reservation and granddaughter Lanaiah Lopez and grandson Carlos Lopez ll both of Porterville. Nick also is expecting another child in October.
