Dwayne L. Bargsten 81 of Terra Bella died on August 3, 2015 at Lindsay Gardens Nursing Facility in Lindsay, CA. Dwayne was born on March 21, 1934 at home in Terra Bella. He died of complications after a 6 month illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tommie L. Bargsten and his 3 children , son Doug Catlett and wife Chris of Bakersfield, CA and daughters Ms. Gwen R. Tozlowski of San Diego, CA and Dana M. Sauer and husband John of Maple Valley, WA. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Mrs. Janice R. Braly and husband Bob of Fresno, CA and Mrs. Linda B. Nelson of La Jolla, CA. His only brother also of Terra Bella, Darryl "Butch" Bargsten, passed away in 1996. Dwayne also leaves 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as 3 grand-nephews and 1 grand-niece. And further, Dwayne is survived by 3 step-children who were a big part of his life: Charles Myers of Gig Harbor, WA, Tina Myers of Visalia, CA and Mrs. Donna Nutter and husband Brad of Reno, NV. The Bragstens were well repected in the Terra Bella farming community for several decades. Dwayne's parents (now deceased) George W. and Mabel R. Bargsten were residents of Terra Bella from the early 1900's. Bargsten farmed citrus, wheat and barley for over 40 years. Although Dwayne spent some time in the automotive industry and several years in food service, his primary interest was always farming citrus. The Bargsten family and extended families invite you to graveside service to be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1013 East Olive Avenue, Porterville, CA at 11 am on August 13, 2015. In honor of Dwayne's military service in the United States Navy, the service will include a flag folding ceremony. A social gathering will be at the Porterville's Elk Lodge beginning at 12 pm immediately following the graveside service on August 13th. Dwayne and his family would like all his friends and acquaintances to come and talk about old times and share remembrances. Food and a no-host bar will be available.
