Gene Clower age 77 and resident of Porterville passed away December 9 2017 in Porterville. Gene was born November 2, 1940 at Maude, OK to Omer and Bertha Clower. He graduated from Tulare Union High School and Porterville Junior College and in 1969 began working as a Psychiatric Technician at Porterville State Hospital until his retirement in 1985. He and Ruth Camden were married in 1976 and continued to live in Porterville were they purchased a ranch and grew Quince. Gene was an avid hunter and for many years was even employed to cull overpopulated game in Tulare County. He was mechanical by nature and liked restoring old bicycles and a lot of his free time was spent with his grandsons Chris and Brandon working on classic cars at his friend Sid Harris' home. Together Gene and Sid taught his grandsons all about motors and life. Gene once stated that he had purchased more than 53 new vehicles and enjoyed driving every one of them. During the last several years he enjoyed shopping and dining out at Spice Company with his daughter Linda and her husband Michael. Gene was an active member of the Porterville Eagles Lodge and spent countless hours at the Kingsburg Gun Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy and his son Lee. Surviving family includes his daughter Linda Coffman and husband Michael of Porterville. Sons Lann and Lindsay Clower and daughter Lisa Clower along with his sister Wanda of Idaho. 2 grandsons: Brandon Craig, Christopher Craig and wife Mayra. Great granddaughter Santannah Craig, and his niece Gail along with numerous other nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00am Thursday December 14,2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Porterville.
