Joe "Louie" Fabela age 62 and a lifetime resident of Porterville passed away June 23, 2012 in Visalia. Louie was born October 21, 1949 in Porterville to Enrique and Florence Fabela and was a 1968 graduate of Porterville High School. He was married to Sylvia Brown May 20th 1989 in Las Vegas, NV and operated his own lawn care business for 20 years and also detailed cars for both Bonanza Motors and Kar Korral for more than 30 years. Louie liked to BBQ for friends and family and the Nopales Salsa he made from the tomatoes, chilies and cactus he grew in his garden was especially delicious. He could be found many Saturday's strolling through the local "swap meet" and countless acquaintances and neighborhood children lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Louie" or "Grandpa Louie". His favorite way to relax was watching TV westerns like Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Rawhide with Sylvia but any older movie was a close second. Louie was preceded in death by his daughter Lori Brown in 1997, Mary Fabela Gelinus in 1980, Dolores Moran in 2004, Danny Fabela in 2012 and surviving family includes his wife Sylvia Fabela. Son Joey Fabela. Daughters Kristina and Patricia Fabela. 4 brothers: Henry Fabela and wife Yolanda. Richard Fabela and wife Elizabeth. Ruben Fabela and wife Carol. RobertFabela. 5 sisters: Rita Gonzalez. Margie DeLaCruz and husband Richard. Jenny Plata and husband Gilbert. Lucia Flemate and husband Fernando and Shirley Maestas and husband Joe. Visitation hours are 2:00pm to 8:00pm Monday July 2nd at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. Monday July 3rd at 11:00am a Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne's Catholic Church followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Porterville.
