Joil T. NorrisJoil Thurman Norris age 91 and a resident of Porterville for 32 years passed away January 4, 2012 in Porterville. Joil was born May 19, 1920 at Mountainburg, AR to William and Emmer Norris and first came to Porterville in the late 1930 to help with the canal construction projects. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and served in the European Theatre receiving numerous citations and honors and was a Prisoner of War prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1945. Joil returned to Porterville and was married to Margaret Kellerhals on April 13th 1950 in Sebastian County Arkansas. A new job took them to Ft. Bragg in 1952 and then another job in the saw mills in 1967 took them to Roseburg, OR. Joil retired in 1980 and once again he and Margaret returned to Porterville. Never one to waste his time, Joil enjoyed taking care of his home and spending time with Margaret and their kid's and grandkids. His surviving family includes Margaret Norris of Porterville. 3 sons: Larry Norris of Porterville. Earl Dean Norris of Porterville and John Norris of San Francisco. Daughter Linda and husband Virgil Rask of NV. 2 brothers: Charlie Norris and Bruce Norris both of OR. 2 sisters: Martha Bratton of AR and Margie Norris of WA along with 7 grandchildren.Visitation will be 2:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday January 8th at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel. A Graveside Service will be 1:00pm Monday January 9th at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Porterville.
