Louise A. Williams, a lifelong resident and member of the Tule River Indian Tribe passed away December 31, 2012 at the family ranch. Louise was born June 6, 1925 to Augustine and Bessie Vera and received her education from Stewart Indian School, Carson City, NV and Sherman Indian High School, Riverside, CA. She was married to Daniel Williams and together they ranched on the Tule River Reservation. Louise enjoyed being a rancher's wife and took pride in cooking for the ranch hands and taking care of her home and growing family. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and was actively involved in learning and passing along many of her Native American traditions. She was a member of the California Indian Basketweavers Assn., served on the Enrollment Committee, was a past Tribal Council Member, served on the Tule River Elders Council and because of her ardent interest and keen knowledge of the Tule River Indian history she was an invaluable historical resource. Louise enjoyed playing solitaire, traveling to various casinos, visiting with family and friends and recounting stories about the "old times" to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband Daniel Williams in 1992. Grandsons Stevyn and Tracyn Behill in 1996. Son Russell Norman Williams in 1999 and Grandson Gabriel Acosta in 2002 Surviving family include her son Gilbert Williams and wife Rhonda of the Tule River Reservation. Daughter Patsy Vega of the Tule River Reservation. Sister Lydia Santana of Woodlake along with 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm Monday January 7, 2013 at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be 9:00am Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Porterville followed by interment at Lower Cemetery, Tule River Reservation.
