Michael Anthony Munoz was born to Maria Darlene Gomez on October 15, 1987. He was a resident of the Tule River Indian Reservation, in Porterville, CA To many, He was known as "Big Mike" or "Monk" a nickname given to him by his mom. He was the younger of his two older siblings, Mary and Levi. Growing up, Michael was always Levi's sidekick. Michael was a strong, smart, witty, and a respectful man. He loved his RT Dodge Challenger, 4x4 truck, his STIHL 461 chainsaw, his Raiders, and working out with his bros. Michael loved any adventure and hiking in the mountains. Most of all, he loved his Tule River Reservation mountains. Michael was a hard worker. After earning his Porterville High School diploma, he took college welding courses and received numerous fire fighter certificates. He worked as a forestry firefighter over the last five years. He started with Tule River Bear Ridge Yokuts Crew (Under the supervision of Loren Lenares) and was most recently on the Calderon Fire Crew. Michael was always complimented on being the best sawyer on his crews. Michael unexpectedly left us on Monday, December 27, 2021.\n\nAlthough we were not ready for him to leave this world, he is joining his sister Mary Estelle Varragan "Dulay" in Heaven and left behind his Loving Mother Maria Darlene Gomez. One brother Levi Robert Gutierrez, his Grandmother Linda Sue Santos, Grandfather Rodrick Rufus Gomez and his loving soulmate Michelle Patino. Also survived by his Maternal Uncle Rodrick "Festus" Gomez, Maternal Great Uncles, Gerald, Stanley and Harold Santos. Great Aunts Donna Devine, Connie Dulay and Lois Noland, two paternal Aunts Charlotte "Gomez" Ruiz, and Paula Gomez. Maternal Aunts Althea Eugene, Shirley Gomez, and Kristine Gomez, residing on the Tule River Reservation one nephew, Adden Ramos, and many, many cousins. One Maternal Great, Great Uncle Alonzo McDarment two Great, Great Aunts Katherine Carrillo and Geraldine Frost.\n\nPreceded in death paternal great grandmother Mary Estelle Dancing Eugene. Maternal Great Grand Mother Zelma Esther Santos. Great Grandfather Bob Santos, and Uncle Douglas Santos\n\nHe worked at the Shoe Farm on his off season. He was involved with the fire fighters, never missed out on the holidays with his mother, loved working out loved outdoors, and woodcutting. Michael is now our angel. While looking down from Heaven and protecting us, he will be forever loved and missed in our hearts.
