Olen Carl Jarvis, fondly known as Carl Jarvis to his family and friends, of Porterville, California, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, at the age of 89. Born on January 19, 1934, to Olen and Ruth Jarvis, Carl was a devoted and loving son, husband, and father who touched the lives of many. His dedication and loyalty, particularly towards his family, were the pillars of his life.\n\nCarl is survived by his loving children; Greg (Cynthia) Jarvis, Ilka (Jeff) Sabo, and Mary (Fred) Emerson. He is also survived by 1 sister, 13 grandchildren, 33 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. \nHe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ilka Jarvis, his parents Olen and Ruth Jarvis, his dear daughter Teresa Smithey, and sister Helen Moorhead.\n\nCarl was a dedicated professional in the field of engineering, serving the United States Forest Service in Porterville, CA. He retired in 1989 after a fulfilling career contributing to forestry. His work ethic and commitment were a testament to his character. \n\nCarl served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 in the Corps of Engineers. He was stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA and at Fort Kobe in the Republic of Panama. \n\nHe was a graduate of Porterville High School and Porterville College. \n\nWe encourage those who knew him to share their memories and upload photos of Carl to his memorial page.
