Pacifica Estalilla Reyes, 99, of Porterville, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 11, 2016, less than a month from her 100th birthday.She was born on May 8, 1916, to Ramiro and Aurelia Estalilla in Aringay, La Union, Philippines. She graduated from Philippine Normal School to become a teacher, but had to give up her teaching position when the Philippines was invaded during World War II. At the end of the war, she married Robert "Bob" Reyes and then came to the United States as a War Bride in 1946. They first lived in Florida where her husband worked, but when she became homesick for family and her Philippine town mates, they moved to California. They lived in Los Angeles where her two sons Bob and Larry were born. In 1953 the family moved to Porterville, California, because many of Pacifica's town mates and relatives from the Philippines lived there. She lived in Porterville until her death.Pacifica was a stay at home mother who took care of the home and resourcefully managed the family's limited income. She was involved in the Filipino Community of Porterville and attended St. Anne's Catholic Church. One of her great joys was her weekly visit with her great grandchildren. She also took great pleasure in spending time with friends and family all of whom loved the warmth of her personality and her wonderful smile.She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her sister Aurora, and great grandson Bryant.She is survived by her brothers Romeo Estalilla and Ramiro Estalilla, her two sons, Bob and wife Verna, Larry and his ex-wife Ofelia, granddaughter Wendy and husband Kirk Honeycutt and their sons Jackson and Logan, grandson Lawrence and wife Tahnee and grandson Bryce and sister Clarissa, and granddaughter Denise and husband Adrian Cortez.
