It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a remarkable individual, Rafael Herrera Rios, who was born in Chavinda, Michoacán, Mexico on August 28, 1941, and passed away on October 08, 2023. He was a man of humble beginnings, Rafael held a deep love for life and his family, which he expressed in his everyday actions. His wit brought a smile to everyone's face, and his compassion radiated to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit was a beacon of light that never dimmed, and he will forever be remembered for his radiant personality and his tireless commitment to his loved ones and his work. As Mother Teresa once said, "We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop." Rafael was that precious drop for us all.\n\nRafael's life was a testament to the love of hard work and dedication. He was a dedicated farm laborer in the agriculture business for 45 years, residing in Porterville, California. He was not just a loving family man but a comrade and a friend who was never too busy to lend a helping hand. He was a loving husband to Margarita Herrera who survives him. Their love story was one of deep understanding and mutual respect, an example for all of us. \n\nThe viewing will take place at the Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center, 765 West Henderson Avenue, Porterville, California, 93257, on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 3:00 PM. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will also be held same day at 6:00 PM. As we gather to say our final farewells to Rafael, we will remember his loving, witty, humble, and compassionate soul. A Resurrection Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 am. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His final resting place will be at St. Anne's Cemetery, after the mass celebration. \n\nWe invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Rafael to the memorial page.
