Ricardo (Rick) Flores age 54 and a resident of Porterville for 48 years passed away February 5, 2014 at his home in Porterville. Rick was born January 30, 1960 at Plainview, TX to Domingo and Esperanza Flores who moved to California in 1968 and settled in Porterville. Rick attended local schools and was very active in the Porterville Youth Baseball programs starting with Knothole, Babe Ruth and finally the Monache Marauders before graduating from Monache High School in 1979. He entered the U.S. Army in 1979 and after serving in the 82nd Airborne Division was honorably discharged and returned once again to Porterville where he has been a resident ever since. Rick was a very hard worker and was always willing to help others. He helped coach his nephews Babe Ruth team, raced cars at Rocky Hills Speedway, liked to go to yard sales, was a big Raiders fan and his favorite NASCAR drivers were Jimmy Johnson and Tony Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, Domingo Flores February 1, 2003. Surviving family includes his mother, Esperanza Flores of Porterville. Daughter Ashlynn Flores of Porterville. 5 brothers: Domingo Flores (Melody) of Springville, Robert Flores (Becky) of Porterville. Hector Flores, Carlos Flores and Mario Flores (Diana Lopez) all of Porterville. 2 sisters: Nelda Lopez of Porterville and Norma Fetalvero (Thomas) of Tulare. Nephew Michael Rivas (Amy) of Porterville and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3:00pm to 8:00pm Monday February 10th at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be 11:00am Tuesday February 11th at St. Anne's Catholic Church, followed by interment at Porterville's St. Anne's Cemetery.
