Rich worked as a professional Chef at the Holiday Inn, he later became Bar and Kitchen Manager, spanning 20 years of dedicated service. Upon moving to the Porterville area he met his wife Judy. Together they took Rich's dream of owning restaurant and turned it into reality. They opened RJ"s CafAC. and Bakery on May Street in 2001. His love for his family helped in naming RJ's after Rich, Judy, Jennifer and James. The family worked together to make it thrive with Rich as the cook and inspiration behind the business. Later they moved to Putnam and D Street where they continued to serve good food including Rich's every popular biscuits and gravy. Rich's love of animals, especially dogs was always present in his life and he shared it with everyone. He touched many lives with his presence, whether it was food he cooked, dogs he loved as family making sure that his children always had a dog or spending time interacting and nurturing children.
