Robert Paul Baranek, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was carried to heaven on angel's wings, to be reunited with the "love of his life", (Judy) his wife of 51 wonderful years. Bob was born on April 5, 1940 to Paul and Marie Baranek in Sacramento, California. He is survived by his children "The 5 J's" - Jeff, Jeannine, Janelle, Jerry and Jason. Grandchildren - Janae, Jenna, Alexis, Joshua, Spencer, Ebin and Anissa. Step Grandchildren - Lance, Dalton, Marissa and Timothy Great Grandson - Carter Bob graduated from Cal Poly - SLO with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He accepted a position as Public Works Director for the city of Pismo. The Baranek family relocated to Porterville in 1980, when Bob accepted a position as the manager of Lindmore Irrigation district. He was dedicated to fighting to retain State and Federal water rights to reduce the cost of water to the farmers in his district. Due to frustration with Bureaucratic "red tape", he decided to retire in 2007. Enjoying his time vacationing at the beach and mountains with Judy and the kids. Bob was a rare breed, truly one of a kind. Many people search a lifetime for that one true friend. Bob was blessed with many loyal, sincere, lifelong friends who genuinely loved and cared for him. He was an exceptional Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. The lessons and love he gave us will forever live on in our hearts. Here's to your flying lessons - Pop- you earned your wings!\n\nServices are as follows: Visitation Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11:oo a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church followed by interment at St. Anne's Cemetery. The Flower Mill (559) 784-2142 is handling the flowers for the service.
