Roman O.Conaway Sr. was born June 17, 1921 in Howesmill, Missouri to Henry and Isabel Conaway. Then in 1948 he married Nancy Nonnearl Lease to which nine children were born. Devine, Glenda, Linda, Resa, Roman Jr., Leon, Elyna, Kim and Laurie. Four children from a previous marriage included Roman Alexander, Flora, Noel Glen and Virginia. Roman was a musician known as the Missouri Troubadour and recorded songs and appeared on his own radio show at KXLW in Missouri from 1945-1946 to which was on St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame list. He sung a song Trudy Girl and I Waited For You on the Earnest Tubb Jamboree at the Grand Ole Opry in Tenn. Roman was listed on the Billboard Magazine on February 2, 1959. New on the Ridge Crest Records talent Roster is Roman Conaway who for a number of years had his own label, Shamrock Records. He sung on many other shows and radio stations throughout Missouri, such as KTXL and KSD. His record was on Gold Standard Record label with Feron Young Studio in Nashville. He recorded I waited For You, Trudy Girl, Hope Chest Life, My Life In Vain and Turn Me On. Roman had 11 brothers and sisters, Alva, Clyde, Howard, Paul, Lorraine, Corrine, Josie, Annie, Margie, James and Raymond. Roman and Nancy spent most of their lives here in Porterville raising their children. Roman was very proud of his 54 Grandchildren, 89 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
