Ruth A. CassidyRuth Anna Cassidy age 70 and a resident of Porterville for 66 years passed away September 24, 2011 in Porterville. Ruth was born August 22, 1941 at Indianola, OK to Vealon and Imo Rogers who moved to Porterville when Ruth was four years old. She received her education in Porterville and married William "Lloyd" Cassidy on October 25, 1969. Ruth was the consummate homemaker and taking care of her family and supporting her church brought her great joy. She was a wonderful cook, could sew and crochet beautifully and volunteered her time and talents constantly to church activities such as VBS, the Ladies Group, grief counseling and visiting shut-ins just to mention a few. She enjoyed playing and singing country music with Lloyd, reading, going for rides, eating out and anytime she was with her family. She was a loving, nurturing person who found a place in her heart to raise and care for numerous children she came into contact with over the years. She was a faithful member of the Porterville Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband William "Lloyd" Cassidy Sr. in 2008 and more recently her brother Jim Rogers. Surviving family includes 2 sons: James "Buddy" Brents Jr. and wife Dawn of Texas and William "Lloyd" Cassidy Jr. of Porterville. 2 daughters: Martha Cox and husband Alan of Porterville and Lisa Schorling and husband Brad of Porterville. Sister Wilma Adkins and husband Bill of Tipton along with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Visitation time is scheduled from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday September 28th at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Chapel followed by a 10:00am Graveside Service Thursday at Porterville Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
