Steven G. Leasure age 57 and a native of Porterville passed away February 8, 2013 in Palm Springs, CA. Steven was born June 6, 1955 at Hanford, CA to Emerson and Doris Leasure who moved to Porterville in 1960. He received his Elementary and Jr. High School education from St. Anne's Catholic School before graduating from Monache High School in 1973 and Porterville Jr. College with an AA Degree in 1975. Steven had a fascination with magic and ventriloquism that dated back to his youth in Porterville where he would spend countless hours perfecting his magic tricks and honing his ventriloquist talents with performances for small groups and family. Living in Southern California afforded him the opportunity to intermingle with others of the same interest, which ultimately led to a position as a freelance Performance Critic for several magician publications. Steven also managed to acquire an enviable collection of professional ventriloquist dummies and was an active member of the Hollywood Metropolitan Community Church. He was a quiet and shy man who could be very private at times but still enjoyed being in the company of select friends and family. Surviving family includes his parents Emerson and Doris Leasure of Porterville. Sister, Debbie Leasure of Porterville. Brother, Patrick Leasure of Palm Springs. 2 Uncles: Virgil G. Freitas of Hanford and Virgil C. Leasure of Laton along with numerous cousins.
