Theodore "Ted" Vega, age 74 and a lifelong resident of the Tule River Indian Reservation, passed away on April 20, 2015. Ted was born on February 17, 1941 in Porterville, California to Wilfred and Verna (Wheaton) Vega and was an enrolled member of the Tule River Tribe. He received his education from Doyle Colony School. He worked as a logger for over 40 years and then worked for the Tule River Tribe before retiring. He enjoyed life and loved taking his partner "Jack" for a cruise around the "Rez" and visiting with people along the way. He was a person of good humor who liked to make people laugh. His unique laugh will forever live on "auh, auh." He was so well liked and respected that people gave him special nicknames. Each one of you have had your own special name and time with Ted because he always treated you as family. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Verna Vega, and his sisters Susie and Winifred "Winnie" Vega. He is survived by his companion of 40 years "Toots" , his son Eric Vega and his brothers Raymond, Delbert, Clyde and Preston Vega. Ted also had seven grandchildren and loved his step-kids (Randy, DeeDee, Peggy, CeCe, Marian, Kim, and Kelly) as his own. Services are scheduled as follows: All night Vigil starting at 5:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2015 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Mission, Tule River Reservation. 6:00 pm Rosary also scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2015 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Mission. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Mission , Tule River Reserfvation. Interment to follow at the Upper Cemetery.
