Violet Vivian Farmer age 81 and a longtime resident of the Poplar/Woodville area passed away May 2, 2013 in Porterville. Violet was born September 15, 1931 at Norman, OK to Roy and Eva Bunch who moved to Woodville when she was 12 years old. She married Luther Farmer August 10, 1945 at Hollister, CA and then settled in Woodville to begin their life together. Two years later, Violet had their first of what would be seven children together. Luther was a Pastor with the Pentecostal Church of God denomination so in addition to being a full time mother, Violet was right beside Luther as they were pastors for many years at the Pixley Pentecostal Church of God and off and on several times at the Poplar Pentecostal Church of God. Because evangelizing and guest speaking at other churches was something that they did often, Violet found that she enjoyed traveling and visiting at the countless different locations that their ministry took them. In addition to traveling and visiting friends and family, Violet was an avid reader, a San Francisco Giants fan and loved spending time with her beloved poodle BJ. She was preceded in death by her sons Roy and Ricky in 1981, her husband Luther in 1995 and her daughter Deloris Smith in 1993. 1 Granddaughter Melinda Farmer and 1 Great Grandson Shawn Farmer. Surviving family includes 3 sons: Tim Farmer of Merced, Terry Farmer and wife Wanda of Visalia and Steve Farmer and wife Judy of Salem, OR. 1 Daughter, Janet Akin of Poplar. 32 Grandchildren and 49 Great Great Grandchildren.
